Help! Which mail forwarder from Japan to Europe that...? (Page 1 of 1) MyFigureCollection.net

I know I'm not the person you asked but...

soja1 year ago#108456361First of all, thanks a lot for your reply! ^^
Are you speaking about this page? blackship.com/
Really? I had a look at them and...
My first impression is that they are kinda shady.

Blackship are run by the same company as the White Rabbit Express proxy service, they are the opposite of shady.

1) not much transparent info on their main page regarding pricing. Or let's say their point system is kinda confusing at first glance.

It's actually very straight forward. For sake of simplicity, ignore the point system (their points system is probably worth it if you ship goods regularly, but I don't use it enough for that) and just look at the Goldfish (free) level, select the currency you intend to pay in and that's it.

e.g. I use JPY, so it costs 109 JPY per parcel they receive (no matter how many items might be in that parcel), 326 JPY per package for consolidation then the cost of shipping. That's it for me. Anything else is optional and prices are clearly given.

Say you're going to have 3 parcels which you want consolidated? Their fee on the Goldfish level would be 1,305 JPY (109 * 3 + 326 * 3) plus shipping.

Repackaging is free and they'll do this if your items arrive in packaging not suitable for international shipping or sent in packaging too large, no matter if it's for a single parcel or if you have them consolidated.

2) I signed up...and only AFTER do they now tell me I need to provide following info:
* "You'll need to upload a document to verify your identity. This document must not be expired and it should include your name and birth date. "
>>> wut??? never had to do this with ANY forwarding service / shop before. Is this the FBI?
and that's not all, they also want:
* "Additionally, you'll need to upload a document to verify your shipping address. The document must include your name, address, and a date-of-issue. Bills and utility statements should be from within the last 3 months."
>>> wat??? ....WAT???? This IS the FBI.

All Japanese forwarding services are legally required to verify your identity for amongst other things, anti-money laundering purposes etc. as part of know your customer legislation.

Any forwarding service based in Japan that doesn't require identity verification is actually breaking the law.

I'm pretty sure identity verification was mentioned in one of the first stages of the signup process too, and it's also all clearly explained on their help site: help.blackship....

and also:
* "Currently, we don't accept payment by PayPal."
>>> why did they not point that out on their main page right away?
Kinda shady they ask for ALL this very sensitive info only after you signed up. Why did they not point that all out beforehand.
Are you sure you can recommend them??? ^^''' Was this the correct site?

I can only assume that must be something specific to your country, as they give me the option to use PayPal.

They also have excellent customer service, so if you have any questions just contact them.

I'd always recommend contacting their customer service before signing up for a forwarding service anyway, just to see what their support is like. Some are known for having practically non-existent customer support, especially if things go wrong.
