Corey Haim was a Canadian film and television actor. He starred as “Sam Emerson” in the horror-comedy film, The Lost Boys (1987). He appeared in several 1980s films opposite Corey Feldman. His television credits include ‘The Edison Twins’ and ‘The Two Coreys’. Corey Ian Haim was born on December 23, 1971, in Toronto, Canada. His parents Judy and Bernie Haim divorced in 1982 after 18 years of marriage. He had two siblings, Carol and Daniel. Haim was a shy kid growing up. He enrolled in a drama class to help boost his confidence. He was also drawn to the sport of ice hockey. He dropped out of junior high school to pursue acting full time.

Haim was inspired to become an actor after watching his sister Carol audition for roles. His film debut was the drama Firstborn (1984) starring Teri Garr. He landed his first television role was as “Larry” on the CBC Television series The Edison Twins (1985-85). Other early films include Silver Bullet (1985) with Gary Busey, and Murphy’s Romance (1985) with Sally Field. Haim co-starred as “Lucas Bly” opposite Charlie Sheen in Lucas (1986). That role earned him a Young Artists Award nomination in 1987.

Haim became a household name with his lead role as “Sam Emerson” in the horror-comedy, The Lost Boys (1987). He picked up a second Young Artist Award for his performance. The film was directed by Joel Schumacher and also stars Corey Feldman, Jami Gertz, and Kiefer Sutherland. The film made $32.2 million at the box office. The role of Sam Emerson was reprised in Lost Boys: The Tribe (2008). Haim starred as “Les Anderson” in License to Drive (1988), as “Travis Cornell” in Watchers (1988), and as “Bobby Keller” in Dream a Little Dream (1989). His 1990s films include Prayer of the Rollerboys (1990) and Snowboard Academy (1997). Haim and Feldman starred in the A&E reality series ‘The Two Coreys’. It ran for two seasons from June 2007 to August 2008.

Corey Haim died on March 10, 2010, at the age of 38. His reported cause of death was pneumonia. He was found unresponsive at an apartment in Oakwood, California. His remains were buried at the Pardes Shalom Cemetery in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. Haim was around 5ft 7in tall and he was of Jewish ancestry. He was broke at the time of death with an estimated net worth of $5 thousand. The actor declared bankruptcy in 1997. Haim was once engaged to Holly Fields and to Tiffany Shepis. He was also romantically linked to Alyssa Milano, Lala Sloatman, Victoria Beckham, and Nicole Eggert.

Haim struggled with alcohol and drug abuse throughout his career. He experimented with a number of drugs, including marijuana, cocaine, and crack.
